Today, for the  "Women's History Month" project celebration, I would like to introduce this gorgeous woman.

Meet Stephanie Lyman, 37, sassy, smart, glamorous and an amazing hair stylist and make-up artist

"Let it go" - Elsa

I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Maine in 2005. Currently, I live in Old Orchard Beach Maine, but my heart will always be in SoCal.

Although I graduated from Spa Tech with my Cosmetology license in 2009, for me, learning didn’t stop there. I definitely  take a non-traditional approach to education and I love to learn new things. From wanting to know how things work,  figuring out how to make them better, or simply fixing something that doesn’t work, I take my Youtube University PHD  very seriously and challenge myself on the regular to add a new skill.

Work? What do you do for living?

I help to make other women feel beautiful. I own Flawless Pros On-Site Hair & Makeup, based out of Saco Maine. I  travel anywhere I am needed to work with clients for events of all types; Weddings, Pageants, Filming, Photoshoots,  and more. The best thing about what I do, are the people I meet and relationships I get to build.

Life challenges? How did you overcome them?

Life isn’t easy for anyone and I try to remind myself that each of our challenges are relative. I try to put my obstacles  into perspective whenever I am faced with something difficult. Don’t get me wrong, I throw myself a pity-party for one  every now and then, but I know that I have the tools to solve my problem and the only thing in my way is usually  myself. Leaning into a challenge usually allows me the opportunity to have a more positive outcome. Even when  things don’t go as planned I try to take the good and learn from the bad so that next time is better.

Life achievements?

I’ve made it this far in life and I think that’s an achievement. What can I say, I like to celebrate the small wins. Yes, I own  a small business, and I love what I do, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s my only “life” accomplishment. Instead, I  like to appreciate the daily achievements; like putting on real pants when I don’t want to, or taking the trash out in the rain, because sometimes the simplest tasks are the most daunting but still offer a sense of accomplishment when  done. Plus, I love the feeling of marking things off of my never-ending to-do list!

What are your passions?

I think I am the most passionate about people, followed closely by music. A very close friend of mine calls me Major McCheese  because anytime we go out, I usually run into someone I know. I love meeting new people. From the airport to the grocery store,  I tend to attract conversation and I genuinely enjoy learning about their lives. It just makes me happy.

What do you value the most in life?

I think time is the most valuable thing in life. Life is short, do what makes you happy. For me, that’s spending time with  family, friends, and even amazing clients. Time is truly the most valuable thing in the world to me.

Advice for other women?

You, alone, are capable of so much more than you think. Trust the process and don’t sell yourself short. You have an  endless amount of information at your fingertips and determination is all you need to get started. Even if you make a  mistake, you’ll learn something, and personal growth is the best feeling ever.

Here are a few more of Stephanie's Favorite quotes:

Two of my favorite quotes come from my favorite feisty women and one of my best friends, my Grandmother. One of them  hung in her kitchen, on a wooden cut out of a cow and said:

“Some days you step in it and some days you don’t.” I don’t know  who said it first but man is it true.

The second quote is by far my favorite and as far as I know, and have googled, it is original to  her. Read it twice, then slow down and read it again, it’s so perfect for so many occasions!

“You can get happy in the same pants you get mad in.”  –Gladys Lyman (my grandmother)
